What should I bring  to the underwater photo session?

You should bring comfortable, fitted swimwear or underwear. It’s also recommended to bring outfits you’d like to wear in the photos, such as flowing dresses or fabrics that move well in the water. Do I need to have prior swimming experience?

You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but it’s important to feel comfortable in the water. If you have any concerns, please let me know in advance so we can make adjustments and ensure you feel safe during the session.

What if I don’t know how to dive or stay underwater for long periods?

Don’t worry, I’ll guide you through simple techniques for posing underwater. My portrait underwater photo shoots in the cenote of Tulum, are designed for your comfort, and we’ll work in short underwater intervals with frequent breaks. Before to start the photo shoot, I will guide you through a beautiful meditation combinated with breathing techniques to make you feel very confortable and enjoy the full experience.

How should I prepare before the portrait underwater photo session?

It’s important to stay well-hydrated and have a light meal before the session. Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Practicing holding your breath and relaxing underwater in a pool beforehand (if you have the option) can also be helpful.

What if I wear contact lenses or need glasses?

Contact lenses are generally safe to use underwater, but make sure to keep your eyes closed when submerged.

How is safety ensured during the session?

Safety is my top priority. There will always a floating device next to you. The photos are taken very close to the surface and always close to something to hold.  We will review safety signals and procedures before starting, and you’ll have the freedom to take breaks whenever needed.

What about makeup and hair?

Waterproof makeup is ideal, and there are specific products for these situations. But, preferably, don´t use too much. We are working in a natural place, so we want to preserve. For hair, it’s recommended don´t use products that could damage the environment but you can bring a comb or brush for touch-ups between shots.

How are the underwater photos edited?

After the session, I will review and edit the photos to enhance colors and details. This includes color corrections, removal of unwanted particles, and exposure adjustments to ensure the photos are vibrant and high quality.

How long is an underwater photo session?

Sessions typically last between 2 to 3 hours, depending on the number of shots and outfit changes planned. This includes time for breaks and adjustments.

What should I expect during the photo session?

The session will be relaxed and fun. We’ll start with a brief orientation and practice at the water’s surface. Then, we’ll move to taking photos underwater in short intervals, with plenty of opportunities for breaks and review.
